How It All Began...And The Dream Lives On

Work on the very first "Gloryland Gospel Time"
program was completed around 3:30 AM on
November 18th 1998. After several restarts and a
lot of editing, it was finally put down on tape. And
thus, The Larry Mullinax Ministries, a lifelong
dream, became a reality. The first song ever
played on the show was "I Wouldn't Take Nothing
For My Journey Now" by The Happy Goodmans.
About The Ministry
That first show was sent out to only ten people. But, realizing the potential of
this program and knowing it was a great blessing from God, Larry Mullinax, the
founder of the ministry that produces Gloryland, decided to continue
producing the show and sought Gods will.

Several months went by and then suddenly requests for the show were
coming in almost daily from all over North America. The show was sent out to
people who were blind, handicapped or suffering from terminal or
catastrophic illnesses. Bro.Larry, (as his friends call him) was himself
suffering from a life threatening illness, a rare disease, similar to Parkinsons
Disease, called Supranuclear Palsy. The ministry, to aid those in similar
situations, was very important to him. Bro. Larry admits that he'd never given
much thought to the hardships that people with disabilities face when trying
to do normal, every day activities that most of us take for granted.

"That was the farthest thing from my mind" he said. That is until he himself
became ill. The disease has left him with crippled legs and other painful
effects. He went from a cane to a walker to a wheelchair, each time finding it
harder to deal with and more difficult to accept. But there was one thing he
refused to accept.

There were those who thought that his mind was not as good as it once was.
He set-out  to prove this was not the case and began college courses by mail.
He earned his second degree, this one in Theology and Biblical Doctrine and
was ordained a Minister Of The Gospel in August 2001. As he worked his way
through the courses the phrase "Yes We Can!" became his battle cry. But
there was still something left to do.

He wanted to do something for those people he'd met along the way; the
handicapped, those with terminal illnesses. These people were now his
heroes. He was so touched by the strength and courage they displayed. A
ministry that would benefit these folks and others was the leading that God
gave him. A ministry that would go to them, where they were, and provide
encouragement and hope in Christ.

Through letters and phone calls, Bro. Larry began to feel the love and warmth
of the Southern Gospel industry.  He had been a fan since childhood and now
he was making many new friends in the industry. The love and caring they
showed him encouraged him even more and he began to work on the show
with new strength and confidence. Some of the fans and even some of the
Southern Gospel artists themselves donated music for the show.
"They just listen so they can make sure I'm playing their music" he mused.

And play he did. At last count, the show was being sent out to about 2000
people every month. The number of people the show was sent to and the cost
involved finally became a factor and the show was moved to the internet
where an even larger audience and  ministry was possible. You can hear the
current program now by clicking the "GloryLand Gospel Radio" button in the
main menu. Bro. Larry is excited about the technology the internet provides
and is looking forward to using it to it's fullest potential.

"The potential the internet provides for spreading the gospel is
unbelievable" Bro. Larry said. "We are thrilled to be able to share the Gospel
while utilizing the technology available today. The number of people that can
be witnessed to and the outreach that is possible is astonishing" he said.

In November 2010, the ministry marked it's twelth year of service and praise.
As Bro. Larry looks back and reflects on the ministry God has entrusted to
him, he becomes quite humbled. He has provided Christian entertainment to
Christians all around the world. He has interviewed some of Southern
Gospels legendary artists from yesteryear as well as some of todays brightest
artists and has shared their testimony and ministry with his audiences. His
ministry has grown into several areas of service and many people are blessed
by his ministry, courage and strength. "Yes We Can" is still his battle cry. As
Bro. Larry would say, "the dream lives on." Bro. Larry, keep on dreaming!
